If Wishes Were Horses by Robert Barclay

If Wishes Were HorsesIf Wishes Were Horses by Robert Barclay

"Devastated by the senseless deaths of his wife and son at the hands of a drunk driver, Wyatt Blaine is searching for a reason to go on. Unable to find any sense of peace, he turns to one of his late wife Krista's passions, running an equine therapy program for troubled teens at the Blaine family ranch. As Wyatt prepares to restart the program, he hopes to put old wounds behind him, and to find new purpose in his shattered life.

But then Gabby Powers, the widow of the man responsible for Wyatt's unbearable pain, begs Wyatt to welcome her son, Trevor, into the program. Wyatt agrees, byt remains deeply troubled by his decision. As Trevor begins to respond, Wyatt, Gabby, and Trevor un expectedly find themselves being drawn nearer to one another. But to completely heal, these throubled souls separated by a common tragedy will be forced to explore the true natures of love and forgiveness, and to do so in ways that they had never imagined."

This is an interesting book and is similar to much of Nicholas Sparks' works.  If you are a cryer, you just might.  The language is a bit dated for the 1950s but provides a good weekend read.  There is romantic interest, tragic loss, more tragic loss, miscommunication, and all the elements of a Nicholas Sparks novel.  But it's not Nicholas Sparks.  It will be interesting to see how this author develops.
